"In life find someone as normal as you"

I found a quote that says’ “In life find someone as normal as you.” I love this quote because for those of you who know me, well I am in my own category of normalness! I learned at an early age that life is just too precious; it can be taken away so quickly. To some I am very outspoken, to others at first may think I’m a tad crazy, but then when you get to know me you realize, that yes I am a tad crazy hehe. I have always been the “live in the moment” type of person. I spent a few years of my life hating myself for being gay, because I was taught that it was wrong… But after finding peace within myself with God and Religion and my sexuality, nothing is holding me back. I crave life, I embrace it… I can remember just wanting to die, not wanting to live anymore. But then I found that unexplainable joy and allowed it back in my life I just don’t take it for granted anymore. When I saw this picture I just felt such joy in my heart, it explains itself but If I had to describe living in the moment or enjoying life… This would definitely be one of my top pictures because that’s exactly what we were doing…

Life is too short to worry about impressing the world… I thought that I wasted a year and a half of my life on someone… But I gained an amazing friendship with someone else out of it. If you aren’t happy… FIND YOUR HAPPY PLACE! Live for you and make new friends on this incredible journey. If you aren’t being appreciated, find someone who will appreciate you, because if you allow someone to suck that love and joy out of your life it will consume you greater than anything ever has… I know I’ve been there!

So … “find someone as normal as you…”

The Hillymom's

The Hillymom's!

Many of you may ask, what is a Hillymom? To some they are fans, mom's, women, and more... But to me they are life savers or life changers.

I met this lovely group of ladies in Atlanta, GA. Everything that could go wrong in life was going wrong, I was debating a breakup, one of my best friends had just passed away, and my job was in jeopardy.

I got in my car left DC and headed for FL. I stopped in Atlanta on the way, and I met a compassionate group of women who met me with open arms and loving hearts. I was at a very low point in my life, but when I was with them I found that joy that I had been missing, the peace that was drifting didn't seem so far away, and in that weekend a friendship was born. A friendship that has forever shaped my life, and for that I am so very thankful. God places people in our lives for a reason. I lost Dave, a great friend, one of my best friends, and in an instant he placed a hand full of women in my life that each have their own unique way of friendship.

My prayer is that I can bring them as much joy and peace as they bring me, and I hope that they realize that I don't take our friendship for granted, and that I thank God for them each and every day. I honestly don't know where my life would be without my saving grace! My friends! My Hillymom's!!!

Remembering Dave

When Dave dropped us off at the airport that Sunday I had no idea that would be the last time I would hear, "Love you inlaw!" some of you may not understand why we called each other inlaws, but for those of you who do are probably smiling right now as you read this.

I am so very blessed to have known Dave. I honestly can't believe that he is gone. I don't know what I will miss most. I don't think that I could pick just one thing. I don't think that Desperate Housewives will ever be the same. Dave always had a way to make us all laugh, and Lord knows we had our fair share of picking on each other. God forbid you get any crumbs on the couch or scratch his table... BLAKE... I will miss hearing him fuss at us for making a mess, but most of all I will miss the big smile and wink that he would give as he scolded me, because it was always in fun.

I was standing in line at the grocery store and I saw a bag of peanut m&m's, It's funny how the simple things can bring so many joyous memories. Some of you are really confused as to why peanut m&m's would bring back so many memories, but those select few of you are shaking your head and laughing because you know Dave always took my side!

I'm so very blessed to have known him. I'm sure all of you have stories and memories to share. Death is never easy... I encourage you to focus on all the happiness and joy that he brought to us! His life may have been cut short, but he lived it to the fullest!
I love you INLAW! You're so very precious to us all!

Carman!

I would like to recognize Carman!

When I think of the true meaning of friendship I think of Carman. We have been friends for a few years now, and he is without a doubt the most genuine person that I have ever met.

Our mutual love of Comics is what drew up our first conversation! Now don't be fooled he does have a flaw... He thinks that Batman is better than Superman... I know right? Carman we are still praying for you! hehe!

Most people say, "oh that saved my life..." or something along those lines ... I can Honestly say that Carman saved my life! Pun intended. He was there for me at my highest points and my lowest points in life. I am a better person for having him as a friend and I can't wait to see what other crazy adventures are in store for us! From Karaoke, to fishing, to running out of gas at the gas station lol, from cross country adventures to way to spicy meatloaf! I love you Carman!

George and Brad

I would like to recognize George Takei and Brad Altman!

I had the pleasure of meeting George and Brad a few years ago when I lived in LA. We worked together on a convention tour and an immediate friendship was started. I have always loved George because I am a huge Trek fan! If people were to ask what one of the driving forces in my life are their reply would be "Star Trek!"

I will never forget the first time that I met George and Brad. It was November of 2007. I was so nervous! I sat there in their living room in shock as I looked around, It hit me... I was sitting in Sulu's living room! After my nerves settled, I was at ease because George and Brad are amazing hosts!

They have been such an impact on my life. I think that it's so awesome that they have been together as long as they have. It gives me hope every time I see them because I have always had bad luck with relationships. Gay relationships are not easy, so to sit and be able to look at them and their success in life as a happily married couple, it gives me hope that someday I can also find a love like they have!

Thank you George and Brad for being such amazing friends, and thank you for being so incredibly precious!

All my love!
Josh
